Resumen
Los indicadores de sostenibilidad urbana en la ciudad se manifiestan como
elementos interconectados, que ayudan a configurar la misma hasta obtener su
funcionabilidad o una versión más adecuada de esta. En esta investigación se estu-
diarán la aplicación de indicadores de sostenibilidad urbana en la ciudad de Neiva,
departamento del Huila, Colombia, a través del análisis de diversos criterios como:
escala, accesibilidad, conectividad, densidad, diversidad y nodalidad. Este estudio
se llevó a cabo en 10 comunas, se escogieron 2 barrios por cada una. En este caso,
la aplicación de los indicadores de sostenibilidad ayudó a configurar representati-
vamente la realidad física de la ciudad, así como a cuantificar los cambios y obte-
ner las posibles acciones de mejoras sustanciales de los impactos generados. Se
evaluaron las dimensiones físico-ambiental y construida, para permitir una aproxi-
mación, estableciendo el nivel de sostenibilidad que subyace en ciudades interm e-
dias de Colombia como Neiva.

INTERMEDIATE CITIES AND THEIR URBAN SUSTAINABILITY INDI-
CATORS: AN ALTERNATIVE FOR THE ANALYSIS OF THE ENVI-
RONMENTAL DEVELOPMENT OF NEIVA CITY – COLOMBIA
Abstract
The urban sustainability indicators represent interconnected elements, which
help to configure a city until obtaining its functionality or a more suitable version
of it. This research will study the application of urban sustainability indicators in
the city of Neiva, department of Huila, Colombia, through the analysis of various
criteria such as: scale, accessibility, connectivity, density, diversity and nodality.
This study was carried out in 10 communes, 2 neighborhoods were chosen for each
one. In this case, the implementation of indicators of sustainability helped to repre-
sent the physical reality of the city, as well as to quantify the changes and obtain
the possible actions of substantial improvements of the generated impacts. The
physical, environmental and constructed dimensions were evaluated to allow an
approximation, establishing the level of sustainability that underlies in intermediate
cities in Colombia such as Neiva.
