Concept building in Social Sciences: Pre and post pandemic
ABSTRACT
The objective of the study was to analyze the effect of the Concept Building Educational Program on the achievement of social science
competencies in students at the Teniente Man uel Clavero Muga Public Secondary School for Minors in the district of Pun chana, Peru,
before and after the pandemic. Longitudinal, pre-experimental, and analytical research, pretest and posttest. Quantitative approach with
a quasi-experimental design. A compa rative method was used with experimental and control cohorts in 2019 and experimental and
control cohorts in 2024. Non-probabilistic sampling of 120 students: experimental group of 30 students from 1st “H” and control group
of 30 students from 1st “J” during 2019. For 2024, the experimental group corresponds to 30 students from 1st “H” and the control group
to 30 students from 1st “J.” The findings of both studies indicate that, even though the educational program was effective in both cohorts,
the context of the pandemic increased the effects of learning on competencies related to history, the environment, and economics. The
variation in results shows that learning is a process strongly mediated by the contextual and social reality of students, which is consistent
with constructivist and sociocultural principles of education. The pandemic provided a context of crisis that intensified the relevance of
these skills, generating a more favorable disposition toward meaningful and critical learning.

Los estudiantes encontrar on amplias
