RESUMEN
El artículo que se presenta forma parte de una investigación doctoral defendida y validada en la carrera de Ingeniería en Ciencias
Forestales, de la Universidad Nacional de Ciencias Forestales (UNACIFOR). Provee una revisión de referentes que han estudiado las
competencias en la Educación Superior desde miradas teóricas, metodológicas y normativas, con énfasis en su aplicación a contextos
de la formación de profesionales del Sector Forestal hondureño, con la finalidad de fundamentar el diseño del pe rfil de egreso por
competencias del Ingeniero en Ciencias Forestales de la UNACIFOR, Honduras. El método que se ap licó en esta investigación fue de
revisión documental, mediante el análisis sistemático de fuentes académicas, normativas de desarrollo curricular y del marco jurídico
que regula el Sector Forestal hondureño. Los hallazgos principales evidencian: a) la necesidad de una mayor coherencia entre el
enfoque por competencias, el perfile de egreso y el marco jurídico del Sector Forestal hondureño, b) asumir las competencias
conceptuales, procedimentales y actitudinales como el eje articulador de la formación forestal en la UNACIFOR; y c) la insuficiente
profundización de las competencias procedimentale s en el perfil de egreso vigente, demanda su fortalecimiento para responder de
manera efectiva a los retos que demanda el sector forestal. Como resultado, se propone modelo conceptual del perfil de egreso basado
en competencias, que integra componentes epistemológicos, pedagógicos y jurídicos, además de alinearse con los enfoques
propuestos por la UNESCO y el Proyecto Tuning América Latina. A manera de conclusión, se plantea un perfil de egreso alineado,
responsable, coherente, pertinente y comprometido con el Estado y la sociedad, respondiendo a los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible
(ODS) y las demandas actuales que exige el Sector Forestal en consonancia con las tendencias act uales.

Transformative Forestry Education: A Competency-Based Model for Designing the Graduate Profile at UNACIFOR,
Honduras
ABSTRACT
The article presented is part of a doctoral research defended and validated in the career of Engineering in Forest Sciences, of the
National University of Forestry Sciences (UNACIFOR). It provides a review of references that have studied competencies in Higher
Education from theoretical, methodological and normative perspectives, with emphasis on their application to contexts of the training of
professionals in the Honduran Forestry Sector, in order to support the design of the competency-based graduation profile of the Forestry
Science Engineer of the UNACIFOR. Honduras. The method applied in this research was documentary review, through the systematic
analysis of academic sources, curricular development regulations and the legal framework that regulates the Honduran Forestry Sector.
The main findings show: a) the need for greater coherence between the competency appr oach, the graduation profile and the legal
framework of the Honduran forestry sector, b) assuming conceptual, procedural and at titudinal competencies as the articulating axis of
forestry training and the UNACIFOR; and c) the insufficient de epening of procedural competencies in the current exit profile, which
required their strengthening in order to respond effectively to the challenges demanded by the forestry sector. As a result, a conceptual
model of the graduate profile based on competencies is proposed, which integrates epistemological, pedagogical and legal components,
in addition to aligning with the approaches proposed by UNESCO and the Tuning Latin America Project. In conclusion, an aligne d,
responsible, coherent, relevant and committed graduate profile is proposed with the State and society, responding to the Sust ainable
Development Goals (SDGs) and the current demanded by the Forestry Sector in line with cur rent trends.

Introducción
En América Latina, la formación profesional a nivel superior en el contexto de las Ciencias Forestales, en la actualidad enfrenta
retos y desafíos que se agrandan en cuanto a la pertine ncia, coherencia, calidad, efectividad y sostenibilidad de sus programas.
Honduras no es la excepción, donde estos retos y desafíos se intensifican anhelando formar producto de la necesidad profesion ales
que sean capaces de responder a contextos sociales, forestales y ambientales complejos y transdisciplinares, donde la gestión forestal
sostenible de los recursos requiere competencias conceptuales, procedimentales y actitudinales de forma integrada.
