RESUMEN
La responsabilidad social y las certificaciones son pilares fundamentales para el desarrollo competitivo en las
industrias globales. Las empresas deben considerar el entorno económico y los derechos humanos y laborales de
manera sostenible. Es crucial que las organizaciones sean socialmente responsables, cumplan con las leyes y estén
atentas a las necesidades de la sociedad. En Ecuador, el sector florícola se ha convertido en el principal generador
de ingresos entre los productos no tradicionales. Para competir en los mercados internacionales y posicionarse ante
los consumidores, estas empresas necesitan obtener certificados internacionales. Estos certificados les permiten
enfrentar la alta competitividad global. La investigación se centra en cómo las certificaciones en el sector florícola
afectan la calidad, la sostenibilidad y las condiciones laborales. Se basa en enfoques teóricos que analizan la
responsabilidad social y las certificaciones en este sector. Además, se emplea una metodología cualitativa,
utilizando análisis documental para comprender los problemas laborales que enfrentan los trabajadores, así como
el compromiso que tienen las empresas florícolas con la sociedad y el medio ambiente. Aunque las certificaciones
han contribuido al crecimiento empresarial y a la generación de empleo en Ecuador, no han resuelto por completo
los problemas laborales. Persisten desafíos, como el bloqueo a la formación de sindicatos y la vulneración de
derechos laborales, así como la contaminación ambiental.

ABSTRACT
Social responsibility and certifications are fundamental pillars for competitive development in global industries.
Companies must consider the economic environment and human and labour rights in a sustainable manner. It is
crucial that organizations are socially responsible, comply with laws, and be attentive to the needs of society. In
Ecuador, the flower sector has become the main generator of income among non-traditional products. To compete
in international markets and position themselves in the eyes of consumers, these companies need to obtain
international certificates. These certificates allow them to face high global competitiveness. The research focuses
on how certifications in the flower sector affect quality, sustainability and working conditions. It is based on
theoretical approaches that analyze social responsibility and certifications in this sector. In addition, a qualitative
methodology is used, using documentary analysis to understand the labor problems faced by workers, as well as the
commitment that flower companies have with society and the environment. Although certifications have contributed
to business growth and job creation in Ecuador, they have not completely solved labor problems. Challenges persist,
such as blocking the formation of unions and violating labor rights, as well as environmental pollution.
