La capacidad de imaginar fue un gran paso evolutivo, a
partir del cual se habla de seres humanos, de homo sapiens.
Se trata de la capacidad de ver dos dimensiones: el mundo
que nos rodea y el que está en nuestra mente. Signica la
posibilidad de crear mitos, leyendas, explicaciones para los
fenómenos y compartir todo eso con otros semejantes. Tener
unas mismas creencias es lo que une a las personas y permite
que cooperen entre sí, logrando mejorar la vida del grupo.
En otras palabras, el hombre ya no sólo conoce, sino que se
da cuenta de que conoce. Toma conciencia de que es un sujeto
cognoscente y que hay objetos conocidos. Que las entidades
materiales y el pensamiento son dos cosas distintas. De modo
que la Filosofía, y la condición humana, comienzan con la
reexión sobre el conocimiento.
Después, el hombre se preguntará cómo es posible la
relación entre dos mundos diferentes. Cómo es posible esa
conexión. Cuáles son las diferencias entre lo real y lo irreal.
Cuántas clases de seres hay. Si todo está hecho de una misma
sustancia, que presenta varios aspectos, o si hay varias
sustancias. De modo que, del problema del conocimiento,
pasará a la búsqueda metafísica. Esta especulación losóca
es un saber, entre varios que ocupan al hombre.
