ESTUDIANTES DE SECUNDARIA: UNA REVISIÓN SISTEMÁTICA

RESUMEN
El desempeño académico en álgebra en estudiantes de secundaria constituye un tema de gran relevancia y actualidad a nivel
internacional, lo que ha motivado a la comunidad académica a indagar sobre las variables que influyen en este proceso con el fi n de
proponer prácticas pedagógicas más eficaces. El presente artículo tiene como propósito analizar la producción bibliográfica relacionada
con las variables que influyen en el aprendizaje y rendimiento del álgebra en la ed ucación básica secundaria. La investiga ción es de
tipo documental y se desarrolló bajo las orientaciones metodológi cas de la guía PRISMA-P, lo que facilitó un proceso sistemático de
búsqueda, selección y análisis. A partir de la revisión en bases de datos reconocidas como SciELO, ERIC, Academy Edu y Scopus, se
identificaron 103 documentos, de los cuales se seleccionaron 51 para el estudio detallado. Los hallazgos permiten distinguir tanto
variables internas como externas. Entre las internas se destaca la falta de consolidación temprana del pensamiento algebraico, el
escaso desarrollo del lenguaje y razonamiento algebraico, así como la com plejidad inherente de esta rama de las matemáticas.
También se resalta la necesidad de fortalecer la formación docente mediante el modelo Mathematics Teachers’ Specialized Knowledge
(MTSK) y la imp lementación de metodologías innovadoras que integren el uso pertinente de las TIC y estrategias de argumentación
matemática. Por otra parte, entre las variables externas se identifican la infraestructura escolar, el acompañamiento familiar, las políticas
educativas y la interacción social. En conjunto, estas variables ejercen una influencia significativa en el rendimiento académico de los
estudiantes en álgebra.

Influential variables in the academic performance of secondary school students in algebra: a systematic review
ABSTRACT
The study of academic achie vement in algebra among secondary school students has become a pressing and globally releva nt topic,
encouraging scholars to explore the variables that shape this learning process and to propose more effective teaching approaches. The
present work aims to examine the body of literature addressing fa ctors that influence both learning and perfor mance in algebra within
lower secondary education. This research adopts a documentary design and follows the methodological guidelines of the PRISMA-P
protocol, enabling a systematic process of searching, selecting, and analyzing sources. From databases such as SciELO, ERIC,
Academy Edu, and Scopus, 103 documen ts were initially identified, of which 51 were selected for in -depth review. The findings reveal
both internal and external variables. Internally, the limited early development of algebraic thinking, insufficient progress in algebraic
language and reasoning, and the inheren t complexity of algebra are highlighted. Teacher preparation also emerges as a key element,
with emphasis on strengthening training through the Mathematics Teachers’ Specia lized Knowledge (MTSK) framework and adopting
innovative pedagogical ap proaches that integrate information and communication technologies alongside strategies for mathematical
reasoning. On the exte rnal side, factors such as school infrastructure, family support, educational policies, and social interactions are
identified as influential. Collectively, these variables exert a significant impact on stude nts’ academic performance in algebra.

Introducción
Los hallazgos recientes sobre la transición del pensamiento concreto al algebraico resaltan que este no se limita al uso de
símbolos literales, sino que implica reconocer y generalizar patrones aritméticos hacia estructuras algebraicas, siendo estas un
componente esencial para el desarrollo del razonamiento algebraico (Torres et al., 2023). Este enfoque ha impulsado estudios que
profundizan en las dificultades que enfrentan los estudiantes de educación básica secundaria d urante dicho proceso de transición.
