El ascenso silente de la Milicia
E n la avenida Lecuna, entre Nuevo Circo y Parque Central, muchos saben que hay un polideportivo con un cam po de beisbol, una cancha de básquet y otra de futbolito. Lo que pocos conocen es que en ese mismo lugar se ubica el batallón de Milicia Parroquia San Agustín, una de las 499 unidades de este tipo que existen en toda Venezuela según cifras oficiales.Ni idea, responde un muchacho que vende dulces en un toldo negro cuando se le pregunta sobre la estructura militar a escasos metros de su posición. El despiste es entendible. El batallón está muy alejado de la idea preconcebida de lo que es una estructura castrense: no cuenta con avisos especiales de identificación y se oculta dentro de una casa blanca que en sus paredes tiene pintas alusivas al PSUV, Hugo Chávez y la paloma de la paz.Esto lo mantiene la Vicepresiden cia y también hay oficinas de la Misión Evangélica, de Protección Civil y Barrio Adentro, comenta Héctor José Herrera, comandante del batallón y el único miliciano presente en ese momento a pesar de que en la unidad están inscritos 350 hombres y mujeres.Herrera tampoco es el prototipo de la idea generalizada que existe sobre un comandante de batallón. Tiene 60 años, usa bastón y lentes, y ese día vestía un pantalón holgado con una chemise.La Milicia no tiene edad. Todos ser vimos, aunque sea para llevar comida a una trinchera en medio de la guerra. Aquí no se denigra ni se desecha a nadie, agrega el comandante, que en su juventud fue parte de la tropa profesional y la reserva activa.El hombre pasa todos los días de la semana en ese lugar recibiendo so n la avenida Lecuna, entre Nuevo Circo y Parque Central muchos saben que hay licitudes de ingreso a la Milicia, un cuerpo politizado dentro de la Fuerza Armada que ha venido creciendo calladamente desde su creación oficial en 2008 y que se ha convertido en la piedra angular del objetivo chavista de armar a la ciudadanía para defender el proceso revolucionario de cualquier ataque interno o externo.El avance no se detuvo con la muer te de Hugo Chávez y la llegada a la presidencia de Nicolás Maduro.
